Administrator Orlando C. Hondrade took over the management of LWUA in January, 2007. Before this assignment, he was Administrator of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), since 2001. A civil engineer by profession, he honed his management skills at the National Irrigation Administration where he rose from the ranks, starting as an engineer-trainee in 1975 to ultimately become that agency's Deputy Administrator in 2001. During this period, his outstanding management and technical capabilities were repeatedly recognized by NIA, among which was his role in the development and operation of the most viable irrigation system of said agency. Administrator Hondrade has also been the President of the Philippine Waterworks Association (PWWA), the most prestigious umbrella organization of public and private entities involved in Philippine water supply development.
