Taysan WD (Batangas) inaugurates P16.3-M water supply improvement project, now services 16 of 20 barangays

LWUA Public Affairs and Luzon Area Manager Antonio Magtibay (extreme left) representing LWUA Acting Administrator Salvador C. Ner, Taysan Mayor Victor Portugal, Jr. and Taysan Water District (TWD) acting General Manager Marianito P. Mendoza, Jr. (extreme right), sample the strong water pressure off the newly-completed pumping station of this Batangas town's water supply provider. Looking on are TWD Board of Directors Chairman Joselito C. Alfajaro (behind AGM Mendoza) and LWUA Area 3 division manager Gregorio Mendoza (center).

The pumping station is part of a LWUA-assisted P16.3 million water supply improvement project recently undertaken to provide a 24-hour potable water supply to four more barangays of Taysan, namely: Maharadiong, San Marcelino, Sto. Niño and Pinagbayaran. With the project's completion, TWD now covers 16 barangays out of Taysan's 20.

The project, which also included laying out close to 8,000 linear meters of pipes, will also improve substantially the water district's entire water supply system. In addition, the TWD, from its own funds, has installed a 50 KVA generator set to maintain a continuous water service during power outages.
