commander Dr. Edison Cuenca (center) and other LWUA volunteers
at the bridge of Macasandig River in Cagayan de Oro City where
LWUA set up a water filtration equipment to supply fresh drinking
water to Sendong flood victims. The mobile filtration equipment
turns river water into safe drinking water.

Dr.
Cuenca tests the newly-filtered water as Cagayan de Oro residents
watch. At right, LWUA volunteer Renato Anyog helps residents
get fresh water.

Volunteers
of the LWUA 501st Water Batallion, an AFP-affiliated organization
of LWUA employees, set up a state-of-the-art mobile water
filtration system which was shipped directly from the LWUA
office in Quezon City to help Sendong victims. Facilities
of the city's water supply provider, the Cagayan de Oro City
Water District, were damaged by Typhoon Sendong's floodwaters,
creating up to 70% lack of potable water supply

A
pipe is lowered into the Macasandig River from which water
will be pumped into the mobile filtration system stationed
atop the bridge. The resulting water is fresh and potable
as seen in the top photos.

Water
distribution for Cagayan de Oro's Sendong victims continues
into the night.
