As a fitting
ending to the traditional Muslim Ramadan Festival, the Provincial
Government of Sulu in cooperation with the Local Water Utilities
Administration (LWUA), the United States Agency for International
Development (USAID), the Mindanao Economic Development Council
( MEDCO) and the Jolo Mainland Water District (JMWD) will start
this October the construction of a P54 million project to upgrade
the water supply system of the provincial capital of Jolo. The
project, which is intended to end Jolo's age-old potable water
supply problem, is part of the President Arroyo Administration's
Humanitarian Offensive in the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao
(ARMM) specifically centered on the provinces of Sulu and Basilan.
