Senate hears LWUA charter change

SENATE HEARS LWUA CHACHA - Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr., chairman of the Committee on Public Works, presides over the Senate hearing recently on the three bills proposing amendments to the charter of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), including an increase in its capitalization and foreign borrowing authority. LWUA Administrator Lorenzo H. Jamora (extreme right) listens as Senator Ramon Magsaysay, Jr., author of Senate Bill No. 2468, discuss provisions of his bill. Senators Revilla and Magsaysay expressed strong support to the proposed amendments. The proposed changes to P.D 198 are also contained in Senate Bill Nos. 2165 and 443, sponsored by Senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Sergio Osmeña III, respectively. The committee is next to schedule Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting to harmonize provisions of the three bills. Also present in the hearing are officials of the Philippine Association of Water Districts (PAWD), heads of government agencies and representatives of various water sector groups.
