Sustainable water supply for Dagupan City

Dagupan City mayor Alipio Fernandez (left) held talks recently with visiting officials of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) led by Board Chairman Prospero A. Hondrade (2nd from right) regarding measures to ensure a sustainable source and supply of potable water for the city and its residents in view of Dagupan's sandy geological foundation and the threat of saltwater intrusion into its shallow natural freshwater reserves. LWUA is readying a P150 million project for the rehabilitation and expansion of the water supply syustem of the Dagupan City Water District to meet long term demands, according to Pichay. LWUA will also install rainwater harvesting facilaities in the city, the first in the country, to recharge the natural aquifers.
