LWUA Chairman Prospero Pichay, Jr. (inset at right) delivers the keynote address during the two-day LWUA-sponsored watershed management workshop held at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Participants and delegates to the recently-concluded National Summit on Watershed Management led by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the various water districts, LGUs and NGOs signed the so-called Puerto Princesa Protocol declaring their commitment to protect and conserve the Philippines' vital life-supporting watersheds through partnerships and joint undertakings. Among the principal signatories are Edgardo Demayo representing LWUA; Jesus Javier representing DENR; Stella Anima, chair of the Watershed and Environment Committee of the Philippine Association of Water Districts (PAWD), general managers Alfredo Silva and Roberto Dormendo and board member Ralph Uy representing many of the supporting individual water districts in the country.
