President
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and US Ambassador Kristie Kenney
recently led the inauguration and turnover of a newly-completed
73.1 million modern water supply system to the Jolo Mainland
Water Distict (JMWD) to provide safe and clean drinking
water to thousands of concessioners in the capital of Jolo
and the adjacent towns of Patikul and Indanan in Sulu Province.
The water system was rehabilitated, expanded and improved
further with the financial assistance of the United States
Agency for Internatinal Development (USAID) through the
USAID Growth and Equity in Mindanao (USAID-GEM) and the
Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA). Photo shows
