PGMA, US envoy Kenney turn over P73-M modern water system in Sulu

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and US Ambassador Kristie Kenney recently led the inauguration and turnover of a newly-completed 73.1 million modern water supply system to the Jolo Mainland Water Distict (JMWD) to provide safe and clean drinking water to thousands of concessioners in the capital of Jolo and the adjacent towns of Patikul and Indanan in Sulu Province. The water system was rehabilitated, expanded and improved further with the financial assistance of the United States Agency for Internatinal Development (USAID) through the USAID Growth and Equity in Mindanao (USAID-GEM) and the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA). Photo shows President Arroyo, Ambassador Kenney and Jolo Governor Abdulsakur Tan watching in approval as LWUA Acting Administrator Daniel I. Landingin, representing LWUA Chairman Prospero Pichay and the JMWD, presents the certificate of project completion and turnover to the residents of the beneficiary areas. Also in photo is JMWD interim general manager, LWUA engineer Alex Bulicatin.
