| Senate hears proposed LWUA charter amendments | ||||||

| THE
Senate Committee on Public Works speed up its discussion on the proposal
of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) to amend its 33-year-old
charter with a Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting which harmonized
provisions of Senate Bill Nos. 2468, 2165 and 443, sponsored by Senators
Ramon Magsaysay, Jr., Juan Ponce Enrile and Sergio Osmeña III,
respectively. The meeting was attended by the LWUA team composed of from
left, Manuel Yoingco, Management Services Office Manager; Atty. Ma. Elena
Te, Contracts Division Manager, and Acting Senior Deputy Administrator
Daniel Landingin. Committee Secretary Norberto Villanueva; Atty. Richard
Cambe, and Atty. Suharni Samanodi (all in right photo), from the offices
of Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr., and Sen. Magsaysay, Jr.,
respectively, led the deliberations on the request of LWUA for an increase
in its capitalization and foreign borrowing authority. Also present in
the meeting are representatives of various government agencies, water
